Sandra Klespies, PH.D was active in clinical microbiology as Director of Microbiology at Akron Children's Hospital, Akron, Ohio and St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown, Ohio. She also served as clinical associate professor at Northeastern Ohio College of Medicine.

Dr. Klespies was an active member of many professional organizations including American Society of Clinical Pathology, South Central Association of Clinical Microbiology, and the American Society for Microbiology. She was best know for her work in virology and presented numerous workshops as well as authoring numerous papers and abstracts.

Dr. Klespies is also remembered by her students for her excellent teaching ability. She helped many students learn clinical microbiology in a fun and informative manner.
